No Pain, No Gain

Today I'm going to talk about the sentence
that influence me the most.
As the saying goes, "No pain, no gain." It
may be a cliche, but it has influenced me deeply.
In 2017, I had my first English proficiency exam.
The uncertainty for the exam had frightened
me. During the day, the fear that curdled inside
my belly crawled up to my throat. It felt like
something is choking me and wants to eat me
up. At night, I tossed and turned in bed,
concentrating on the shadows moving across
the ceiling. On the verge of collapse, my mother
said, "No pain, no gain, my son.” Her words had
settled me down. With strength born out of fear,
I started to prepare myself painstakingly. I
