American climate activists from the United

States in April 2019. This branch of climate

striking was created in order to make climate

activism accessible to those unable to strike

physically. In March 2020, following the COVID-

19 pandemic, Greta Thunberg encouraged the

people to sit at home with a sign and post the

image on the internet instead of gathering at

the streets and town squares. The movement

has since amassed notable popularity due to

restrictions passed regarding large gatherings

during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Since the "Future for Friday" movement has

carried out a series of on-line activities, it has

improved people's correct understanding of

various climate issues and promoted climate

change education in schools.
