On Saturday morning, my mother came down
from her room. She looked upset. I was reading a book
in the living room. But I was not thinking of a book at
all, I was thinking of the field trip. It was all I had talked
about for a week. This would be my first field
trip—ever.
My friends Emily, Vivian and Lena were going
there, too. And there was would be cotton candy. I had
never tasted cotton candy before. My friend, Emily
tried to explain it to me, but I still could not imagine it.
“Nana, did you see my purple pin?’’ my mother
asked. ‘‘Yes, I saw it the other day.” My mind was set on
the field trip. “Did you touch it? ” my mother didn’t like
anyone touching her things. But the pin was so lovely.
