changes in my school would be a very

complicated process. With this realization, my

respect for the principal has increased (greatly). I

began to see that being a principal is not just a

job having total power over thousands of

people, and more as a kind of diplomatic

nightmare, in which they have to balance the

needs and desires of many groups.

on the principal. And I imagine quite often their

request will be diametrically opposed. Perhaps

the parents would hope a certain teacher was

stricter, while others wanted him to be more

relaxed. Maybe students will complain about

having too much homework. Well a parent

might push for more work. Or maybe teachers

will ask for better facilities, while the school
