principle today when designing new ships.
The other story is about Thales. Once, the
Pharaoh was looking for the person to measure
the height of a pyramid. Thales told the Pharaoh
that he only needed a wooden stick and a ruler
to measure the eight of the pyramid. He showed
his method by inserting the stick next to the
pyramid. When the shadow of the stick was as
long as the stick, he measured the length of the
pyramid’s shadow and told the Pharaoh that
the length of the shadow was exactly the same
height of the pyramid.
Thales was really the smartest person in the
world at that time. He efficiently measured the
height of the pyramid by using some simplest
tools and got the answer without climbing up to
the top of the pyramid. This is used today to
measure buildings and even mountains.
