vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The number of



                     cheetahs has decreased by 93% in the last 100


                     years. There are only 7000 left in the wild. There



                     are many reasons for this but the main ones are


                     habitat loss and the illegal pet trade. As the



                     number of people in the world has gone up, so


                     does the amount of land we need, there is less



                     available for cheetahs and the animals that they


                     eat. In some countries, such as Kuwait, cheetahs



                     have become a fashionable pet. There is some


                     hope for cheetahs as there are organizations



                     working to solve these problems and it is hoped


                     that their numbers will increase shortly.



                             I hope that one day that I am lucky enough


                     to go to Africa, and when I am on safari, I will



                     see a cheetah. I am sure that from this I will


                     discover more things about these beautiful



                     animals than I have seen from books, TV shows
