vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. The number of
cheetahs has decreased by 93% in the last 100
years. There are only 7000 left in the wild. There
are many reasons for this but the main ones are
habitat loss and the illegal pet trade. As the
number of people in the world has gone up, so
does the amount of land we need, there is less
available for cheetahs and the animals that they
eat. In some countries, such as Kuwait, cheetahs
have become a fashionable pet. There is some
hope for cheetahs as there are organizations
working to solve these problems and it is hoped
that their numbers will increase shortly.

see a cheetah. I am sure that from this I will
discover more things about these beautiful
animals than I have seen from books, TV shows
